Joan JonesJoan Jones has enjoyed sewing since childhood. She is completely self taught and feels this is the reason for the originality and the unusual sewing methods that she has developed. She is the founder and owner of Seams Like Home, LLC

It started in 1979 as a cottage industry where she designed and produced dolls and holiday decorations for gift shops and craft shows. In 1987, she opened Seams Like Home, a gift and quilt shop. In 1994, she began publishing her line of patterns. She writes all her own instructions and drafts her own patterns - even does the photography seen on their covers. These patterns, as well as the production of her sculpted clay faces, has resulted in an entire line of related supplies that are offered by mail order, on-line and at quilt show vendor malls.

Joan enjoys making dolls and Santas because "when they're done, they look back at you with their own personalities". She loves to piece and quilt by machine and includes rapid piecing dollmaking techniques in her patterns.
She feels that "with all the exciting projects to make, and so little time, it's absolutely necessary to have fast and easy ways to get things done."

When her husband, Richie, retired she sold her shop in Clinton. Richie now helps with pattern publication and vending at quilt shows. They enjoy golfing, gardening, decorating their home...and of course, coming up with new quilt and doll ideas!
